SUMMARY

This is an experiential weekend workshop to introduce those who care for and/or work with the terminally ill (Hospice, medical workers, body and wellness workers, caregivers and family/friends of those in  transition) to our Living In Transition (“LIT”) program. The weekend will introduce LIT, explain its benefits to those in transition as well as the benefits to their families, and then participants will experience the program first-hand, as if both facilitating and receiving the program.

DETAILS

"LIT” is a mobile and customizable preparatory program for those who are terminally ill, which can be facilitated at bedsides, health and nursing centers, hospitals and homes by trained individuals.

LIT encourages us to “die differently,” transforming our experience of death from one of fear, helplessness, finality, anxiety and depression, to one of transition, acceptance, empowerment and even joy.

Building on the successful “Going Home” meditation program developed in 1995 by Robert Monroe (founder of The Monroe Institute), Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, MD (Hospice pioneer, and author of both the cardinal Five Stages of Grief and the pivotal On Death And Dying), and Charles Tart, PhD (a father of transpersonal psychology), LIT is a comprehensive and mobile, easily trainable and replicable interactive, meditative and preparatory experience for the terminally ill, their caregivers and family.

The effects of entering into a proactive process combined with learning real and beneficial skills is empowering, placing control over the transition process in the hands of the person facing this last physical challenge. Living In Transition offers the very real and very attainable opportunity to transform the end of life - too often experienced in states of passivity, fear, depression, and anxiety – into something of rational calm, personal control, individual and community comfort and even, perhaps... beauty.
